Restaurant serving
Lyonnaise specialities in Lyon 2

As its name suggests, the Bistrot de Lyon proudly embraces its identity. In the heart of the capital of Roman Gaul, on the dynamic and historic peninsula between the Rhône and the Saône, it’s an ideal spot for anyone who wants to sample the delights of Lyon’s traditional dishes in an atypical setting.

Passionate about quality local ingredients, chef Eric Jouanin likes to create simple dishes which require precision and patience: half of the dishes remain on the à la carte menu all year round, demonstrating remarkable continuity.

Bistronomy before its time

Today, with hindsight, it seems clear that the Bistrot de Lyon pioneered a new approach to Lyon’s long-standing culinary tradition. This is evident in the restaurant’s dining room: affable and friendly staff provide warm and attentive service which is never stuffy.

This trailblazing approach is also reflected in the restaurant’s cuisine: although the classics are all featured, they’re lighter but just as flavoursome, served in portions designed to ensure room for a dessert to round off the meal with something sweet. The Bistrot de Lyon adopted bistronomy ahead of its time, remaining true to its founding values while anticipating diners’ changing preferences over the decades.

How do we know the restaurant’s approach has been a success? The grandchildren of the Bistrot de Lyon’s original diners now come here to enjoy a meal!
