Brasserie Restaurant with a terrace
in Lyon 2

Marble tables, velvet booth seats, black-and-white tiled floors: with its elegant setting, steeped in memories of Lyon’s past, the Bistrot de Lyon is reminiscent of a turn-of-the-century restaurant.

It’s easy to imagine ladies in formal hats and gentlemen with impressive moustaches happily sharing dishes, all thanks to recipes passed down from generation to generation.

The atmosphere is so evocative that you’d think you were living through the Belle Époque! With its inimitable charm, it’s hardly surprising that artists visiting Lyon for a concert or a play feel wonderfully at home here in this cosy restaurant which exudes the joie de vivre of a Parisian brasserie.

Travel back in time at the Bistrot de Lyon

The journey back in time continues with the restaurant’s traditional dishes and authentic Lyonnaise cuisine which chef Eric Jouanin is only too keen to preserve. In the dining room, the good-natured team led by the restaurant’s manager, Kevin Le Boulc’h, works hard to ensure that every diner receives the warm welcome for which the Bistrot de Lyon is known.

The restaurant has several lounges and can accommodate large groups and more intimate meals.
When the sun’s out, enjoy the lively atmosphere of rue Mercière on the restaurant’s terrace and the unique pleasure of balmy summer evenings.

Joie de vivre and delicious indulgence

Although it has a traditional local feel which makes it so popular with families who have been coming here for generations, the Bistrot de Lyon is also resolutely international.

There’s nothing surprising in that: the restaurant is a favourite with tourists who come here from all over the world to enjoy authentic local cuisine. The serving staff speak several languages, including English, German and Italian, and this diversity of languages helps to create the warm, welcoming atmosphere which is so characteristic of the restaurant.

This joie de vivre is also evident in the way in which the restaurant’s waiters and waitresses like to tell the story of each and every piece here, ensuring that a meal at the Bistrot de Lyon is also an exploration of the city’s history.
